We are unique in that we are the only school in Washington State that requires testing for children under the age of 4. In addition to the standardized test, parents' observations and our teachers' observations during the student visit are carefully considered for the admission.

III . Why BKPlay Academy for Gifted Children?

BKPlay is a non-profit, state approved STARS organization that provides in-service training for teachers in Washington State. It is also a bilingual preschool located in Issaquah, WA and provides classes in Mercer Island, Redmond, and Kirkland community centers as well as numerous local elementary schools from Seattle to Redmond . We have taught a variety of students, including gifted students and know there is a strong need for gifted programs. If the bottom 10% need special attention, the top 10% deserve special attention too. They often experience as much as trouble as their counterparts in school but for different reasons.

•  BKPlay started BKPlay Academy for Gifted Children at Newport Hills in Bellevue in Fall, 2008. BKPlay Academy for Gifted Children is a post-constructivism school, offering a unique inquiry-based, hands-on curriculum with ability grouping regardless of their age that is specifically designed to meet the needs of bright and creative students.

•  Students' bright minds are sufficiently challenged by a second language program, to be chosen from either Spanish or Korean. The second language curriculum will utilize multiple facets of creative arts, including cooking, action art, music, movement, stage play, etc. along with interesting routines. In addition to ongoing evaluation through students' original portfolio and project presentations, at the end of the 2-3 years in preschool program, students will be evaluated by standardized achievement tests, which will give us good amount of information, regarding where each student stands.

•  BKPlay Academy for Gifted Children is a proud member of Washington Association of Educators of the Talented and Gifted (http://www.waetag.net) and National Association for Gifted Children (http://www.nagc.org). BKPlay Academy for Gifted Children is added to a world-wide list of schools for the gifted on Davidson Institute for Talent Development ( http://www.ditd.org).
